After a month of our first public beta test, BOLT is finally ready to be opened up to a greater amount of users. Our waitlist has been at maximum capacity and finally I am happy to announce that more people can join the waitlist as of today.
The last month was a real test of BOLT's development. In all honestly, as a self-taught solo developer, things were overlooked, and the app was far from perfect. Nevertheless, every bug is a learning curve and has proven to be an opportunity to further innovate. For instance, during my last encounter with cost effectiveness, I found out that there is a more efficient way to retrieve data that is also cost effective, a win win. Perhaps if the original code didn't prove to be expensive, I would have never considered this new approach, which is theoretically more scalable as well. So, lesson 1, let failures be the cause for further innovation.
In this next cycle of BOLT social's testing, BOLT has got a ton of new features. From adding profile art to posting BOLTs that disappear. And don't worry, we have plenty more in the drawing board.
Personally, BOLT over this last month has been way more work than I could expect. I see myself sacrificing weekends, days, and time that I couldn't see myself doing for other projects. So, my point is to not fully commit to a full time idea unless you 6000% believe that you love it, you will do everything possible for it, and that you are not doing it for merely gaining something, such as an internship.
Some notable changes: The OG badge has now been extended to our first 1000 users
